Karl has 5+ years of patent law experience with Hickman Palermo Truong & Becker, in Silicon Valley. He is admitted to the California State Bar and registered to practice before United States Patent & Trademark Office. Karl has a degree and industry experience in Computer Science. Karl specializes in writing and prosecuting software patents. He also provides invalidity/non-infringement opinions and portfolio development advice.

Karl is a 2007 graduate of BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he focused his studies on Intellectual Property (including Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks), Telecommunications, and Antitrust.

Karl Rees enjoys hiking, ultimate frisbee, computers, writing, poetry, traveling, learning, singing, and the theater. Originally from Austin, Texas, Karl currently resides in Santa Clara, California. He has also lived in Utah, Washington D.C., Sydney, and Brisbane, Australia.

Karl and his wife Angela maintain an active online blog featuring weekly journal entries, musings, photo albums, videos, reviews, and recipes. They are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter.
