Injuries for Angela

The theme of this week was injuries for Angela. Tuesday Angela bruised her fingers and ankles playing Frisbee. Wednesday Karl accidentally whacked her in the nose with his elbow while watching a movie. Thursday Karl accidentally hit her with a door and poked her in the eye when he didn't see her in the laundry room. Early Friday morning he made her jump a mile high when he scared her coming out of the restroom. And then Saturday she almost got eaten to death by bugs. No injuries to report for Sunday yet, but there's still half an hour ;)

But we did other things besides get Angela injured this week. Monday we made eggrolls, ran, and decided to finally analyze all of our finances. Actually, we did that all throughout the week. Funny how long that can take. Tuesday we made enchiladas and played ultimate Frisbee together—for perhaps too long, as Angela was a little tired of it at the end.

Wednesday we both got home really late from work (Angela did that a lot this week because she was training to take on a new job function—work was actually a lot of fun, tackling this new function and solving some mysterious variance problems). We made lasagna together, watched "Steel Magnolias," and ran again. Running's going very well—Karl's averaging 25 minutes straight, and Angela splits that time into two segments.

Thursday Karl played Ultimate again. It was also his last day at his externship. It seems like it was a very short time, probably because he could only get two credits out of it. But he did learn a lot about intellectual property law and small Utah law firms. He got some very good news. They're going to pay him to do a patent from home for the rest of the summer. It's decent money—enough to pay books and then some. But he gets to be paid to learn how to file a patent, which is what he had planned on doing for the rest of the summer anyways.

Friday we ate at Fuddruckers (mmmm, says Karl, 2/3 lbs. burger). Then we went to the dollar theater to see "Kicking and Screaming." It was probably worth a dollar to see, no more, no less. Karl nearly died laughing when the kids came out of the butcher truck right before a match.

Saturday, we nearly died hiking Battle Creek and Dry Creek near Pleasant Grove. Well, that's overstating things. The cougar just followed us around, he didn't eat us. Just kidding. There were no cougars. Not that we could see at least. But it was long and hot, and the best part was the creek and the waterfalls, all of which we had passed by the second mile (out of 8). You can see some beautiful pictures and read more about it here.

Today, we recovered from the hike by watching nursery kids. Yes, Angela convinced Karl to help out in nursery since no one else has been called to help her yet. Karl is now very afraid of little kids. Sort of. And then we relaxed and played card games all evening. Apparently, Karl is very lucky and cheats a lot.

Quotes for the week:
"I hate flies, I hate rocks, I hate this trail, I hate the world."
- Angela, about 5:00PM yesterday

"I like days when I'm dehydrated because I weigh less."
- Angela, about 10:00PM yesterday
