Just another week in July
Angela is apparently a mini-golf expert. She beat Karl twice in mini-golf on Friday night. And Karl even did better on the course than he had ever done before. So now Karl's bowing his head in shame. But it was a very nice and pleasant evening, and it kicked off a very fun weekend.
As some of you may have known, we had originally planned Saturday morning to hike Timp, but the conditions were a little too dangerous—snow and debris everywhere. Karl was very reluctant to give up the hike, but the pictures on the Timpanogos Emergency Response Team website convinced him (http://tert.org/gallery/July-2005-Pictures).
Instead, we woke up early and hiked to Silver Lake in American Fork Canyon with Ruston, Tina, and Tina's brother Timothy. It was our lightest hike of the summer—maybe 4 miles roundtrip, but it was still pretty steep. It was very pretty up there, with a lot of snow, waterfalls, and greenery (pictures here. The weather was perfect—not too warm with just a light rain. There were also a couple of moose up there. We wished we could have spent a little more time up there, but after lunch we "had" to came back down and go to Seven Peaks (a water park in Provo). It was fun, but almost too cold when the clouds moved in during the evening. Then we all watched "The Man Who Knew Too Little" on the big screen back at our place.
Today we watched a lot of very rowdy kids in nursery (Karl helped Angela again since she's still the only one called to help), sang in choir, and relaxed a lot.
And the reason why we don't mention the rest of the week is because it's just the same old same old—work, work, running, eating, and Frisbee. But we're doing great. Hope y'all are too.
Thought for the week: "Beam me up, Scotty."
- In memory of James Doohan, the Star Trek actor who died on the 20th.
