Leaving on a jet plane

We have had a fun week. Monday we helped our friends, Tina and Ruston, move. Ruston had this huge bed stand that he had made in high school (it was pretty cool looking), and they spent an hour trying to figure out how to get it up stairs and out of his house. (If you've read Douglas Adam's The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, it was exactly like that couch).

Tuesday Karl played Frisbee. We then had some spaghetti with sauce that Karl made. What a chef!!! Wednesday we had Indian food at Bombay House. It was yummy! It was a little hot. The flat bread was very yummy!!!! And then we shopped for suits, because Karl was under the impression he needed them for his internship next week. Luckily, he was wrong and on Thursday we just bought him a couple of nice new pairs of pants, a tie, and a jacket. He has to look like a lawyer, after all.

Thursday Karl played ultimate in the rain, while Angela watched. It was chilly outside too. Angela's a sweetheart for freezing to death while Karl played. She was also a spy. One of the guys didn't know who she was and said something about how Karl's usually a lot a better and has "lost a step." Then another guy explained that he'd just gotten married and the first guy says, "oh, that'll do it." Now, of course, Karl takes no offense to this assessment as it's true, but he blames law school more than he does marriage.

Speaking of which, Karl started this week thinking he'd compete in the Law Review write-on, because it's prestigious and he likes to do prestigious things. Then he went to school and they gave him an 1,000 page packet and after thumbing through it hopelessly for a few hours, he decided that maybe he was tired of school and didn't care about Law Review anymore. It would have taken 16 hour days to get it done before it was due. Instead, he did about 25 hours of work for Corda and got to hang out with Angela a lot.

Tina and Ruston got married on Friday. We went to everything and so were rather busy that day. Their sealing was beautiful. It brought back a lot of memories of feelings that we had during our own sealing just a few months ago. The sealer had some cool analogies about teams of horses being able to pull double their combined weights, and he also told them more than once to go have a lot of kids. We thought that was especially funny because there was very little mention of kids at our sealing. Although, we don't remember much about our sealing at all. It's kind of funny because after the wedding we were marveling that we didn't remember much of what our sealer said, and then Karl's brother-in-law Wayne sent out an email saying how they too don't remember much about what their sealer said either. So apparently it's a pretty common thing to be distracted at your own wedding.

The luncheon/dinner was yummy (cordon bleu and apple pie). Their reception was nice, too. The only sad part is when we realized they weren't going to cut the cake for people to eat. Oh well, we had probably had too many treats to eat that day anyways. In between the dinner and reception we saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Karl loved it [well, actually, that's Angela's impression of my reaction; my feelings were a bit mixed. On one had I wished they'd followed the books more, on the other had the story was better when they weren't following the book that much]. Angela though it was just ok. Perhaps that is because she didn't know what to expect, having not read Douglas Adams before. The reception was very nice. The lucky kids didn't even get their car decorated. (the frosting our friend Jared put on our car still won't come off).

Saturday afternoon was not very fun. Angela had to drop Karl off at the airport for his internship. It was a good thing Angela had some friends to go see to cheer her up. She went with her travel buddies to Café Pierpointe. She had a delicious tostada salad. They then went to see Bride and Prejudice. This is a funny musical (not too much music though). It is based on Jane Austen's book, except it was modern times and based in India. The girls had a great time laughing throughout the movie. Karl meanwhile had a very uneventful and empty flight to Baltimore. He arrived around midnight, and after a somewhat nerve-wracking drive home (his 15 year old brother was at the wheel, in the rain—and he did a very good job but it sure was nerve-wracking nonetheless), he went to sleep around 2:00, missing his beautiful wife.

Sunday, Angela did not have a good time in Nursery. Lots of crying kids and lots of kids not sharing. Oh the JOYS!!! After church Angela went to Jenny's house for dinner. They had yummy shepherd's pie. She played the princess and the villain with her nephews. She also played sequence with her sister. After she returned home she chatted with Karl for most of the evening. Thank goodness for MSN video chat.

That's all folks. Stay tuned for next week when Angela comes to D.C.! And good luck to Chris and Katie (Karl's brother and sister-in-law) with having their first baby maybe this week.
